Websites and software for people who run real businesses.
Hearn Systems is one developer — Justin Hearn — building fast, simple sites and dependable tools for small businesses. You talk to the person doing the work, and when you call, he picks up.

What I build
Three kinds of work, priced plainly. Everything is built by hand, and you own all of it when it ships — code, domain, accounts.
Marketing sites
A fast, simple site you own outright. Design and build, help with the words, hosting and domain setup, and a 30-minute handoff so you can make edits yourself. No subscriptions, no page-builder lock-in.
Custom software
Tools shaped around how your business actually runs — scheduling, quoting, job tracking, internal dashboards. Scoped together, quoted in writing, built in stages you approve.
Integrations & automation
Make the software you already use talk to itself. Customers, bookings, and invoices sync between systems instead of being re-typed into each one.
How a project goes
-
We talk
Thirty minutes, free, no pitch deck. You describe the business and what’s slowing it down; I ask questions and tell you honestly if I’m the wrong fit.
-
You get a fixed quote
Price and delivery date, in writing. If the scope changes, the quote changes — out loud, never silently on the invoice.
-
I build it, you own it
A short update every week while I work. At launch you own the code, the domain, and every account — nothing held hostage.
HIPAA-grade work, starting with a signed BAA.
A deliberate share of my work is with dental offices: Open Dental integration, patient scheduling, recall and reminder tooling. Anything that touches patient data is built to HIPAA standards — and it starts with a signed Business Associate Agreement before any patient record moves.
- A BAA before any patient data
- The Business Associate Agreement is signed first, not retrofitted. Until it is, no patient information touches anything I run.
- Works with Open Dental, not around it
- Your practice management system stays the source of truth. I build against its API so the front desk never maintains two systems.
- Plain answers about where data lives
- Hosting, backups, and access logging explained in writing, in English — the same answers you’d give a patient who asked.
There’s a name on the door.
Hearn Systems is me, Justin Hearn — a developer in Port Huron, Michigan. I’ve spent my career building software, and I run this company the way the good local shops run theirs: do the work yourself, charge what you said you’d charge, and answer the phone when a customer calls.
That’s the whole pitch. No account managers, no “our team will get back to you,” no handing your project to whoever’s free this sprint. The person you talk to is the person who builds it — and the person who answers for it after launch.

Tell me about your project.
A sentence or two is plenty — what the business is, what’s slowing it down. I read everything myself and reply within one business day, usually with a few questions and a straight answer about cost.
